I am a dork!

We planted 2 new trees and I am very excited!! I wanted my parents to be able to see! This picture was taken by Trent! Notice the shovels he propped up by the door and the rake he propped up on the house! He also propped the big trimming scissors on the rock in front! I was cracking up!!

I told Trent this one is called Droopy! He said "That is a great name!" I had to tell him it is not the trees real name, it was made up by me! (Not as fun!)

Blake and the Ladder

Sunday night (May 24) Blake climbed Trent’s ladder to the top bunk all by himself! I was right behind him hands gently waiting on his sides! Everyone was cheering! Trent from the top bunk, Dad and Grant from the bottom! Blake was kneeling on the first rung, and then got to one foot then the other. Got his knees up onto the second rung, brought one foot under then the other. Third rung knees to feet etc. all the way up! It was adorable!! He could hardly breathe he was so excited!

Memorial Day

Memorial Day
Driving to Park City we were talking to the kids about the Alpine Slide!
Grant: Does someone remote control us and we tell them how fast we want to go?

We told the boys if it was raining we would not do the slide!
Grant: Well rain is good, it like, fills pooools and stuff like that!

The Brockbanks are our neighbors! They have 7 kids and an eighth on the way! Grant loves their family! Grant: Mom we need more kids in our family, like a Kali, a Kade and a Reagan!

Driving Trent was focused on swimming at Grandma’s condo and watching Hook with popcorn!

We got Café Rio and headed to the traditional Stanton Family Lunch at the park! It was a bit chilly but fun!! (Years past we have frozen, so I was quite pleased.)

After the park we were going to do the Alpine Slide, but the kids were so excited to swim with cousins we all headed to the pool! The water was warm and Blake had his first swim! We missed meeting Jill’s family at the slide, but it is nearly impossible to pull kids out of a warm pool!!

I love Josh's face in this one!
I honestly tried to delete some and did!! This is a lot of swimming pictures!!
There were too many faces I loved!!

Little Reese, as Grandma Stanton calls him!!

Priceless! Grant and Grandpa Stanton!
The boys got to watch Hook in Grandma Evelyn’s condo while Josh and I ran to the outlets! After that we went to that traditional birthday dinner at Crocodile Cantina for Grandma Stanton and Trent! We ordered Flautas as usual!! Blakey wet through his outfit in dad’s lap!! It was a fantastic day!!

They let the boys chose a birthday prize from a basket! They were thrilled!

Kanosh (We had not heard of it either!)

Camping Friday, May 22 - Sunday, May 24, 2009
Grant got his suitcase packed with his stuff and Blake’s stuff! He was so excited! He took the suitcase out front to the truck and put it in the truck, then in the open trailer by the 4-wheelers, then next to the truck bed etc. He couldn’t wait for dad to get home!!

Jared Burr came into our house to see if he could carry anything for me and Trent said, “Thank you Jared for letting us sleep in your trailer!” (I was shocked . . . that was not prompted!)

Driving in the car to Kanosh:
Grant: I can’t wait to smell something tonight in Jenette Burr’s trailer, like a bear!

Mom: Next year Trent will be in 1st grade and Grant you get to go to a new pre-school!
Grant: Does it have Field Trips? I will only go to a school next year that has Field Trips.

Grant: Let’s get a bird feeder and a bird drinker.
Mom: We have a Humming Bird feeder and the red drink is all they all need. I think that is the only bird that does not need food and water. Josh is that true?
Trent: Mom Blake is like a Humming Bird; your milk is his food and water!

Bracken taught Trent to climb this tree! Trent loved it!!

While camping:
Grant: Where’s my alligator? (He couldn’t find his Gatorade.)

A man drove by on a kid motorcycle and Grant yelled: Hi mini-man!

Trent and Megan!!

Josh, Grant and I went for a ride in the Burr’s Razor or should I say “jaunting car!” We went on this darling little trail with yellow and purple flowers on both sides!! I was expecting a gnome to jump out! It truly reminded me of “The Gnome mobile.” (a childhood favorite movie) It was very fun! Josh looked like the dad in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!” Mud was flying everywhere! Down Josh’s pants, down my shirt, EVERYWHERE! Grant said, “Mom the mud is doing cannon balls!”

Saturday late afternoon we drove about 20 minutes back through Kanosh to some hot pots! Trent enjoyed diving and jumping to Josh! Grant enjoyed for a few minutes then hung on my lap! I spent my time swatting tiny little bugs away that started to bite me! I had little welts on my arms and neck! Paranoid about Blake I focused in on his hair and ears to keep them away! They were not interested in Grant’s hair! When we got back to the truck I saw that Blake had some tiny little blood spots on his scalp from those darn bugs! I was mad!

Sunday we drove home in time for church! Josh taught our Sunbeam class since my eye was swollen and nasty!

Our camping problems included: me getting pink eye, Grant throwing up in the sleeping bag he, Trent and I were all sharing, Blake not sleeping through the night in a fifth wheel (they call it) full of people! It rained quite a bit which was actually fun!

Grant probably enjoyed his little suitcase more than anything! Trent did the same thing for years! He would pull something out of it, and then zip it back up! Before bed he found a place for it that made him happy! It cracked me up!! (Usually I want control over all the clothes, clean and dirty. But it brings them so much joy to be independent I had to let go!)

Grant's Graduation

Grant graduated from pre-school yesterday (May 20), not feeling 100%! They sang a few songs, got their certificates and had cookies! Blake tried to stuff a full brownie into his mouth! Then we went home, continued to watch Star Wars and they both fell asleep!! (I am now going to start labeling on top of pictures instead of below!)

Grant was very excited "his school" got new chairs!
Congratulated by Miss Heather.

Congratulated by Miss Nicole.
Running to us!

The Graduate.

Grant won't look, but Reese Harward is trying to make him laugh!
The sun is too bright for Trent!

Where was I?

When was this and who took this picture? Trent said it wasn't him . . . dad?

Uncle Mark

Josh went to Uncle Mark’s funeral Monday, May 18. I couldn’t go because the kids were so sick! I was very sad! Josh said it was heartbreaking, amazing, neat, wonderful and sad!!

Kirk, Celeste, Claudia, Tina and Kim

Excerpt from Beckee's blog: Uncle Mark passed away May 11. He was diagnosed with Leukemia just over a year ago and underwent treatment. They thought he was free and clear until this past March when he was given a few weeks to a month to live. (I hope I got the details right!) What an amazing man! He was one of those people who made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. He loved everyone he met and it showed. He stood 6' 9'' tall and always smiled. He gave the best hugs and I think he hugged everyone he knew! He taught junior high and was in the Air National Guard. The day before he died he gave his new little grandson, Mac (named after him), a name and a blessing. He also gave each of his kids a father's blessing, which I know meant so much to each of them. Ben and I went to Mark's funeral last Monday and his best friend and kids gave such a nice tribute to him. So many people were touched by him, his love, and the things he taught them. If I could come away with some sort of theme of the funeral it would be he loved life, he loved teaching, he loved others, and he loved his family. What a great example! We went to the luncheon afterward, and I kept thinking how sad it was that he was missing. It was so different not to have him there talking and laughing with everyone. I can't imagine how his sweet wife, Claudia, must feel to have him gone, and his kids and grandkids. I know it's all part of the plan, but it is still so hard to say goodbye to a man we all love!

Here is his obituary (for our family record):
