Blake

Blake is funny and random! 

Blake and I scratched each other by accident while making Zucchini bread, later he said, "Because we scratched each other we need to play together and date each other!"  He wanted me to go upstairs and play cars with him! 

Last night Josh and Grant went to the Utah football game!  They brought home plastic red cups they had drinks in at the game!  Blake saw the cups on the counter and said, "Did they win those cups? Maybe because they were sitting so quietly!"  Yeah right, Josh comes home hoarse after games!!  So cute though, he was thinking of church and school probably - - sitting quietly!! 

Boat

Fresh out of the bath these 2 hopped in their boat and had a snack!! I had a hard time getting a normal smile because they were laughing and chewing!

Good Day

Today was just a good day!  As always I was in a hurry!  There were some errands I needed to run and both boys wanted a home lunch!  I called the school and it was Popcorn Chicken!  Yeah, they will both eat it, that saved me time! 

I got dressed and Blake loved my shirt and said, "Are you wearing it with those jeans?  Very cute mom!" 

I am married to a hard working stud!!

I was on the phone, go outside, Blake and Lydia were sitting so cute together on the deck!  Blake had my I-pod!!  He was so excited!! Lydia was asking for Gummy bears for some reason!  Maybe she had seen the vitamins!  I said, "I actually have some Gummy Bears!"   Blake asked why.  I said, "To potty train Lydia with!"  He looked confused and said, "Why because Gummy Bears can poop?" 

We tried to run to Smiths!  Felt more like crawling because the kids wanted these little carts!  I stopped and thought how grateful I am to have these critters and how sweet they are!  I wanted to remember how cute they are pushing carts!  Someday they will be grown and those little carts will make me sad (instead of irritated!) I love my helpers!!  (Even when it takes us 4x's as long to do anything!) 

It was early out day!  Trent came home with this sweet note from a kid in his class!  Made me happy!!  Grant plays with anyone and everyone at recess . . that also makes me happy!  He loves to eat fast and look for Trent or Trent's friends!  He also loves to talk about where to meet Trent after school!  It is so cute!  (Trent actually kind of tired and frustrated one night said, "Mom all Grant ever wants to talk to me about is where we should meet at school!") Grant likes 1st graders, 2nd graders, 3rd graders and 4th graders!  He can hold his own with all of them too!! 

 

The boys got to shoot hoops with Kade for over an hour and a half!

They walked home and we headed to the McAtees for a BBQ!  Dad met us there to finish the deck!  We even did smores over a fire, too much fun to be a school night!! 

Sunday

Lydia wore Lizzy's dress and shoes from over 10 years ago!! I love it!!!  I am so glad they were able to fit in the summer!! 

I slipped on a dress for church I have not worn in a long time, came out of the closet and Blake said, "Mom I love your dress! You are going to be the prettiest one at church!"
Lydia was in the wind and watching for dad to pull up on his motorcyle for her ride!!

I said to Lydia, "Are you pooping?"  Blake said, "No she is JD Berry!" (a friend of Trent's and Blake mentions his name all the time, very funny)  Lydia said, "No I a princess!"  I almost died, she has never said that before and we don't call her a princess!

I got in the car and Lydia said, "Rock paper scissors!"  Blake started to laugh and said, "I taught her that!

Lydia and the boys love when I pretend that Lydia is a new born baby! I hold her in my arms and the boys take turns holding her! It is so funny!!

Driving in the car the other day everyone was talking!  Lydia yelled, "Boys don't talk, my turn!"

Grant, Blake, Kade and Reagan all took basketballs and headed downstairs!  Lydia grabbed a tiny basketball, ran past me and said, "It's a small one!" She hurried downstairs and marched up to Grant and in her bold clear little intense voice yelled, "I play wit you guys! OK!"

Blake's Ear

Tuesday, Aug. 21 Blake jumped off the kitchen table and banged his ear on the wooden chair on his way down!  I could tell it hurt!  It swelled and looked sore!!  Dr. Duffy told me years ago that ears are serious, you don't want them to become disfigured! Tuesday I took him to the Dr. and shot this picture in the waiting room!  It was still a little bit swollen and very purple!  I had promised the sweet thing no shots!  He told me, "My legs are not meant for shots, they are meant for walking!" 

We were able to get Lydia to do the "flu shot" where you sniff it up your nose! Blake on the other hand was terrified!  (His four year old shots really upset him!) When Dr. Duffy came in he scared me! He saw Blake's ear and reacted like it was bad!  He said when the ear bleeds under the skin, if it pools you have to drain it!  If it is severe enough he will send you to an ENT Doc!  Luckily Blake's ear was not pooling, just very purple!

 

1st Day of School

Yeah!!  These cuties were a little nervous and excited!!

Grant came home thrilled with school! Yeah!!  Trent likes Miss Waite and 4th!  Later he told dad he had a great day!  We got Cafe Rio for dinner then had "school" cookies for the 1st day!!  Dad was at a city meeting until 12:30am!   (PG City re: trailer park)

Ward Camp Out

We arrived at the Ward Camp-Out around 7:15pm! We ate McDonalds and Arby's on our way down!   It was in Fairview!  The boys loved the slide in the pool!  Anyone in a swim diaper could not get in the pool, so Lydia and Izzy (Welton's granddaughter) swam in a little pool! 

 We watched Facing the Giants on the lawn!  Something big was on my arm, I flicked it off, then brushed it off the sheet I was sitting on! It was very dark and I am not sure what it was, really grossed me out!!  I sat with the kids on a sheet.  Everyone was eating popcorn, candy, and chips!  The sheet was very dirty, I could not wait to stand up and clean it all up!  Blake fell asleep during the movie.  Josh needed to blow up the air mattress, so he set Blake on a 4-wheeler.  Later when Blake saw the picture on my phone he was excited!!  The child loves 4-wheelers!!  He cried on the way home when we dropped the little wheeler off to be serviced!!

People took rides all morning on the 4-wheelers and we headed home!

St. George

We left for St. George after the Cousin's Olympics!  We met up with the Mortensen's and went to Quail Reservoir!  I did not get enough pictures!!  Grandma Evelyn was at the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City and came out on the boat for a bit Saturday morning! (With Claudia McNaughton and her sister too!)  We went on our first Scorpion Hunt with the Mortensen's and their Black Light!!  It was awesome and a little creepy!!  Then we found a toad in the front yard! Very exciting!! Treg turned one on Sunday and we got to celebrate with him!! 

Cousin's Olympics

Everyone got a medal!!

 Instead of million dollar commercials etc. We got the Lorax!!  (Which my kids watched 25 times!)

 Then we had to hold Aunt Jen's dogs!!

Blake

I looked out the window and Blake was in the backyard running through the sprinkler!  I went out to see how he was doing!  He said, "Mom I am having a me party!"  We love that song from the Muppet Movie!!

In the middle of July the Simmons kids came over!  I took them all back to Jill's house and ran to the store!  On my way home I called Jill and said sorry I am a few minutes late! She said we are not home!  Then she asked the kids where Blake was!  She said, "Julie don't panic let me find Blake and call you back!"  They had taken scooters and bikes to the school!  I was almost to her house and she hadn't called me back! I kept telling myself it was no big deal!  I went ahead and said a prayer!  As I reached the corner by her house I saw a van pulled over and a group of people talking! The thought crossed my mind, I hope this has nothing to do with Blake!  I slowed down and rolled my window down.  The teenage boy saw me and said, "Oh sorry we are looking for a different mom!"  As I rounded the corner there was little Blake standing in front of Jill's house with a blond haired young girl!  He had a dirty tear stained face!  I pulled up and sat down on the ground and held him!  All the people on the corner were watching! The van pulled over and asked if I was Jill's sister and Blake's mom!  My phone rang and I jumped up assuming it was Jill! She was relieved!!  Poor thing was STRESSED!!  She was thrilled I had Blake!  I told her about the little girl with Blake and where they found him!  I guess Blake was riding his scooter down the street and stopped and told this little boy he was lost! The boy said, "I thought you were smiling but now I see your crying!" (according to Blake)  He got his mom and sister! They asked him his mom's name, which of course he said Julie!  The mom of the kids thought he looked like a Simmon's and headed to Jill's house!  As I held Blake he started to explain all of this to me and his lip started to quiver and I had to try hard not to cry!  He does not like it when I cry!  The way he said, "I told them my mom is Jewie," brought me to tears as well!!  We were so grateful the little boy stopped him! Jill was concerned he may have gone to the main street!  As it got dark I was thrilled to have him and did not want to think of the alternative!!!

I guess the city had put up a fire wall Jill did not know was there!  She could not get the stroller around it and ran home to get the car! The big kids had taken off so Blake said he went under a gate and decided to go to Jill's house! Poor Jill did not sleep well that night!!

Siloh Pond

These are not the clearest pictures, but just to remember we enjoyed the pond this summer!  We met Ruth there several times and Dan helped the boys fish!!
