Tidbits

*** In Primary on Sunday they told me Lydia had a great answer! I asked her what it was! She said, "They asked, how can you be honest? I said say the truth!" I asked her how she knew that! She said, "I just thinked it then said it!"

***I took Blake to the bathroom at Chick-Fil-A on an early out day! We were with the Bowman's, Melanson's and Benefield's! He asked, "Why do girls poop 3 times a year and boys poop everyday?"

***Our Stake Center is over a half hour away! I rode with Justin and Nicole to get me Temple Recommend last Wednesday! Josh went to Pack Meeting with the kids and Trent had scouts at 7! He will go this upcoming week!

***I was grabbing Trent's old shoes off the back porch for a friend of Grant's to wear, Langston! I reached in without thinking to make sure they were clean and something moved! I freaked but held them because I was in the house and didn't' want a creature in the house! Then I felt a little weight in the toe of the shoe!  When I got outside I dropped them, then carefully turned it upside down and tapped! A lizard came running out! I screamed! Seems so silly but the whole thing got my heart pumping but good!!!

The Scout

Grant dressed Lydia up in his Scout stuff and thought it was hysterical! Later he belted the shirt with all the belt loops in it and it was too cute!!  

Lydia

I asked Lydia to lay down!  Lydia told me, "I have 2 new boys mom, they are asleep so don't talk to them!"  I said, "Are you going to sleep in the middle?"  She said, "No, I won't fit, and they are big boys, they are not scared, I will just hop in with Grant!" (Not that easy, he is a sweetie to let her hop in, but he does not love it! He can't stretch out with her there!) 

This is where she sleeps every night!! She has probably slept in her bed twice since we got here! 

Weeding

We were weeding the backyard Saturday morning and Josh came across this little guy! Everyone was so excited!!  I was weeding by the fence and looked down and had a huge spider on my arm! (bigger than a quarter) I screamed and knocked it off!!  

Becker Business

***We picked up Josh from the airport in the pouring rain (9-13)!! It was wonderful, but the freeway had horrible standing puddles! Scary!  We thought for sure Grant's game would be canceled!! Nope! He played in the mud and rain!  It was fun! I drove kids back and forth to the Chick-Fil-A bathroom!

***Trent was asked to the Middle School dance by a girl and his response was "No thanks, I'm 11!" Then one of his friend's mom was telling me about him being asked and her son got very embarrassed, like she was not supposed to be talking about it! Funny, I blew it off earlier but then realized he was really asked!

***Lydia had the I-pad the other day and was sitting on the floor while I did my make-up and said, "Mom, I am just chillaxing on your leg!"

***Lydia said, "Let's go to the backyard yo!" I laughed and asked if she liked that word! She told me everyone says it! I listened harder when she said it again, she was saying ya'll!  Haha!!

***Lydia said, "Mom you look hideous!"  I looked shocked and she said, "What does hideous mean?"

***We started Do dots Tuesday! Today, 9-18, the kids were up on their own and made their beds!!! I was THRILLED!!!!

***Grant prefers to walk to school alone! Or have us just go to the cross walk!  He told me it is kind of embarrassing having a mom and a baby carriage! HaHa!!  I bought an umbrella stroller because Lydia could not keep up with us walking to school!  i was carrying her and sweating my brains out in this humidity!!  Looks like we won't be walking everyday!!  Blake likes it though, so we try to meet at the cross walk and drop them their too!!  He said he is ok going with Grant from that point!

King of the Day

Blake came home thrilled because he was King of the Day!!  We went through the book the class made for him!  Cute and funny!!  He got to be the line leader too!!

9-11

***Josh is in Utah! Flew out Tuesday, home Saturday! It is my Dad's birthday so Josh saw everyone at Bonzai for a half hour!!

***It is impossible to brush Blake's teeth! He laughs his head off and says it tickles!  

***Our lawn has some horrible weeds growing in it! They grow fast and they are tall!!  It is so hot they say you can't treat it till it cools off a little! We can only water once a week! Our mow strip was getting tall! I didn't want the neighbors to be upset or the HOA! It is crazy with Josh gone! I sent Trent out and he couldn't start the new mower! It needed gas! We had trouble opening the new gas can! Then it was dark! The mower fell off the curb and he came in and said he couldn't see and it sparked! We couldn't go another day with these insane weeds, so I got a big flashlight and shined it for him! He was so embarrassed, I was a little too! Then we saw Mr. Wade across the street! I told Trent we just had to laugh!  Truly it was so funny!! 

***Driving Trent to school today (9-12)  Lydia deleted all the videos on my phone! (her funny songs and dances, interviewing the kids moving to TX etc) It took me a good half hour to not want to cry!!  I still kind of want to a little!!

***Joelle Afflitto sent me a text, "Hey, just wanted to let you in on a secret. Elise tells me all the girls in grants class have a crush on him! He must be pretty charming :-)"

*** Blake came in last night after brushing his teeth in the bathroom and said, "I look like Erin mom, remember the one in the basement who plays basketball!" He totally did too!!

Tidbits

***We were at TexasRoadhouse one Saturday after just moving here! Trent kept accidentally poking his straw through his foam cup!  It got funnier and funnier because he kept doing it!  He tried really hard to laugh and not be embarrassed!

***Aug 17 Lydia's teachers (2 men said they were trying to be cool) took the class on an outside walk! Lydia and Vivian both got stung/bit!!  The wasp got caught under Lydia's sandal strap!  I got up to go to the bathroom during Relief Society and saw her teacher holding her and her sandal, she had a very upset face with a few tears! Lydia said she was brave because Vivian was crying hard that she wanted her mom!

***Aug 18 Went to Schlitterbahn  
Allison, Braeden and Devan came too! We switched park sides and didn't take shoes or drinks on the bus! It was HOT on our feet!! Next time we will do it very different!!  Awesome park though! Tons of trees and the river was neat and cold!  A fire ant bit my ankle on the tube ride!

When we got home Grant said, "Mom today at Schlitterbahn there was a guy with a hole in his chest right where his heart should be, a little boy Lydia's size wearing a speedo and a man with a fly stuck in his chest hair! I am sure it is dead now that he is home!"

***Trent combed his hair funny, looked in the mirror and sang, "I see a nerd and the nerd sees me!" to the tune of I see the Moon!!  

***When Lydia heard about the ice bucket challenge, she went into the kitchen, got some ice and rubbed it all over her face and hair and neck!! For a long time! Now when the boys say they need to do it, she always pipes in , "I've already done it!"

***Aug 26 Blake got out of the shower and had no shirt on! He was flexing and said, "Look at these muscles mom I think that is why Reese has a crush on me, she wants a boyfriend who is strong!"

***Blake said, "I know mom, you want a kiss for chocolate milk don't you?" I said I sure do! He acted like it hurt and gave me one on the cheek! This afternoon he wanted me to pretend like I was a stranger hurting him when grant came out of the bathroom! I was doing it wrong to him because he said, "Don't love me so much!"

***WARNING, this is inappropriate, but the boys will laugh when they read it in the the book later!!  Blake and Lydia tinkled in a tree at Grant's soccer practice! Blake said Lydia tinkled all over her, I said well she can't point and shoot, he said "Let me just say wieners are awesome!!"

TEXAS
*** A few things about Texas: 
-Cold water is slow, (comes out of big city water tank, gravity) 
-washing machine pretty much no cold water, hot actually, the pipes are closer to the surface and water is not cold!!  
-it is hot here and the humidity hit the first week of school, before that they said it was a mild summer
-kitchen water takes forever to warm up 
-boiling water takes long 
-fire ants, banana spiders 
-garbage man takes everything you set out 
-tons of school supplies 
-sacrament meeting goes over a lot
-no chocolate milk at Costco 
-scouts at the church 
-lots of tattoos (Blake's teacher too! Caught him off guard!) 
-H.E.B grocery store
-school times different, early and LONG, Grant and Blake 7 hours 7:45am to 2:45pm, Trent 7 hours 10minutes 8:55am to 4:05pm 
-sell ice cream at school
-school rules stricter, absent too much make up school Saturday
-can bring homemade stuff for birthdays 
-Freeze everywhere you go, inside truly freeze, the AC is pumping everywhere
-darling comments about church and Mormons (A woman I met at Blake's Popsicles in the Park, said, "5 of my old students are on your mission trips! Then I rode a plane to SL City with an old student who was on his way to his mission trip!"
-The kids say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge of allegiance to the Texas Flag!!!

The pledge of allegiance to the Texas state flag is

   "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible." Then they stand for a moment of silence to honor it!

Big Top Candy Shop

For FHE we went to the Big Top Candy Shop on South Congress in Austin! (When we saw the bats with the Thains it was closed!) The place is amazing!   We all enjoyed ourselves!!  So many cool things!!! Josh and I love any chance we get to go downtown!!

Hula Hut

The Burrs came into town for the BYU-TX game! We also saw Kevin Cloward at Torchey's Tacos! Too funny!! We went to the Hula Hut with the Burr's Friday night! The restaurant sits on a pier at Lake Austin! I sat at the table while Josh parked and we waited for the Burrs to arrive! It started to rain while I sat there and I loved it!!   

Parent's Day

It was Grandparent's Day at school on Friday! Since we don't have any Grandparent's near by Josh and I went to lunch with the kids!

Funny Girl

I was flipping through my pictures at night and saw this! I laughed and laughed!!

Ink's Lake

We went to Ink's Lake with a bunch of families from our ward! VERY FUN!  We were excited to see that Trent's friend Owen from school was there with is family too! (His mom was very kind to me at Cougar Camp! Told me that she is not Mormon, but like a Mormon and hangs with all Mormons and attends all of our functions! Very cute! She is good friends with our RS Pres!) We didn't take the boat because we didn't know what to expect with the lake! Everyone swam and ate picnics! Then we went to jump off the rocks! It was not flat like Lake Powell, Josh helped Trent up! I was yelling in the water to go!  He jumped, then jumped again with Owen and Braeden! Allison jumped too!!  

Then a 13 year old girl jumped, got scared, reached for Adam's arm behind her, went off the side, then hit the rocks half way down! Hip, bum and feet! It was horrific to watch! Truly made us sick!  Her body just bounced off!  YUCK!!  Kim kayaked the girl to her folks and they took her to the hospital! Turned out no broken bones! 

Everyone went to Whataburger on the way home!!
