September

Trent’s setting apart.

Sunday, September 12th 6 PM the stake offices in Cedar Park. President Robinson was out of town, stuck in Utah, so President Anderson met with us. Those present, Josh, Julie, Trent, Grant, Blake, Lydia and grandpa Verne.
As we were leaving to go to the stake offices, Charlie Cook was in our side yard trying to spray paint a blue Y on the grass. He ran out of spray paint and asked Josh if we had any he could borrow. The outline of the Y looked nice. We then saw him jump on his motorized scooter and go check with neighbors for paint, as we pulled out of the neighborhood he was heading to the Leavitts.

At the stake offices, we all sat down and President Anderson said he was going to meet with Trent for 15 to 20 minutes while the rest of us thought about something we wanted to share with him. It could be a piece of advice or something we love or a piece of our testimony etc.
I told the kids not to stress that we all were just here together and not to let it make them feel uncomfortable.
Trent and President Anderson came back out. We started with grandpa Verne. He told Trent that when he got down on his knees morning and night to pray to stay there for a little while longer and listen. Next Lydia said how happy she was Trent would be around for six more weeks and do the MTC at home. It was Blake’s turn, he took a deep breath and leaned forward and threw his head into his hands and started crying uncontrollably. We all started to cry. Trent put his hand on Blake’s back and we tossed some tissues over. President Anderson, who also was crying, sweetly said we could give Blake some time and go to the next person. It was Grant‘s turn. He was about to talk and the tears just flooded out of him. He could not speak either he was crying so hard. He regained a little bit of composure and sweetly said that Trent will be safe and watched over and for him to stand in holy places. (I am crying just saying it again. I am quickly doing voice to text in my phone notes.) Blake still could not talk. President Anderson said he could go after the setting apart and Blake whispered “or not at all.” Josh went next and told him (crying) to lose himself in the work. Then I talked (crying) about the Atonement, eternal families and how much we love him and how much Heavenly Father loves him.

President Anderson set him apart with Josh and Verne. I took notes.
