In the movie, Kurt Cameron discussed with a professional psychologist (or something) woman the five misleading beliefs of today:
1. I am the center of my universe
-this is validated to kids because everything they Google or look at shows up in their feeds, Instagram feeds, Facebook pages etc. because of all the ads being personalized to what we are searching
2. I deserve to be happy all the time,
-electronics gift constant stimulation and if something breaks it can be too expensive to repair The old one so the parents buy a new one. With social media they're constantly looking for likes and posting things to give themselves a pleasure hit
3. I must have choice
-our kids have grown up with drop down menu's, think they have a choice on everything
4. I have my own authority
-they ask Siri to get answers, they Google or look things up on the web
-everybody might be right including me
-no authority role models because parents are parenting with electronics and trying to keep kids happy all the time
5. Information all that matters so I don't need teachers
-they have plenty of information, but Are lacking the wisdom of how to use it
The woman said kids today are angry, self-centered, and impatient, it is truly not their fault but it is also not an excuse.
We are blazing a new trail, we are the pioneers of parenting this new generation with technology.
The beliefs we need to instill:
1-god is the center of the universe
2-joy in all circumstances
-bc of Jesus
3- choice is a privilege not guarantee
4-god ultimate authority
-we are created to be submissive to God
-pray in the moment with your kids when you need help or have a question or something is wrong
5-ask God for wisdom
-do Our kids see us go to Sunday school?
Teach them there are Authorities, experts that we can learn from.
