After a very full day of jumping, movies and pizza Lydia was exhausted!!

School's Out for Thanksgiving

Trent's class earned enough points to bring stuffed animals to school today! He took his Puma . . . playing a game a recess with his buddies Puma got "roofed." Trent called me at lunch to bring him a new beanie baby and a snow hat. Turns out he had 2 snow hats in his backpack, which I tried to tell him . . . I think he really wanted another stuffed animal! I called the school to see if the janitor had already gotten on the roof that day. There was a big storm coming and I didn't know if Josh would beat the storm home. I thought maybe he could get a ladder and go on the roof . . .but not if there was snow! Luckily the janitor had been on the roof and had gotten down a tan Puma!! Lucky Trent!

Trent's Puma is attacking the turkey he made at school!

Trent made this turkey with Karo Syrup! I think it is beautiful!!

Lydia is observing the evening from the Bumbo seat!

Trent loved the necklace he made at school and decided to be an Indian, (Native American.)

Monday: Sleeping and Turkies

Lydia fell asleep on my bed sucking he thumb and I had to get a picture!

Then she was in her car seat with her beanie on . . . it covered her eyes and she was asleep sucking her thumb again!

Grant went to school for the first time after tonsils!! We knew it would be a turkey day and he needed to go!!!

Sunday: Cookies and Teeth

Sunday after church Dad needed to sleep so I had planned to make no-bake turkey cookies with the kids! I thought I had everything but did not. Had to borrow quick cooking oats from Joslyn. I also wanted to do turkey sugar cookies. At the store we could not find candy corn so we bought fruit wedges. I also forgot frosting so I made some chocolate frosting I found in my recipe book. Turns out it was more like fudge, yikes. The wedges for feathers looked ridiculous too. I wanted the kids to be able to take some to their friends . . . we did not!! Blake shook the new package of toothpicks all over. The boys laughed so I made them clean it up!! Oh well, at least they had fun!!

After our cookies fiasco we went to the McKinney's house for dinner. Trent's tooth was super lose! We ended up spending an hour wiggling and coaching! Everyone was so excited . . . the kids all wanted to see. He was LOVING the attention!! He ended up on Chelsea's bathroom counter and made the kids rotate one at a time to look in the mirror. He said it was too crowded by the mirror with everyone! Josh and Chels got him dental floss to put underneath the tooth, once he looped it under, second tug it was out! Half the gum was healed and ready and you could see the permanent tooth. The other half is what bled!! VERY exciting night! Now he wants the other one out! (not quite ready but close) The tooth fairy brought $3 because his uncles told him Sunday was double day and your first tooth is always more!!! Grant was terrified that night that he shares a room with Trent and did not want to see the tooth fairy or know she was in their room. We decided the fairy is magic and magically puts the money there without coming in!!! What are we doing to these poor kids?

While you were gone . . .

Trent decided to take Lydia to school!!

Grant got his tonsils out Thursday, November 11. Josh left Sunday, November 14 for China. He was suppose to come home Wednesday, November 24 but changed his plans for Saturday, November 20 . . . Hooray!!

While you were gone:
-I told Blake he could not use a certain towel. He very sadly and quietly sulked over to Grant who was laying on my bed and through tears whispered, "Mom said no towel Blake." Grant said he was sorry and mom should go to time-out! It was adorable!
-I was not getting Blake a band aide and he wanted one, so he said, "Maydays I need a band aide."
-I cannot walk around the house or turn around without someone at my feet!
-We had horrible nights. The kids triggered each other and woke each other up because of crying. Even my little 7 year old Trent . . . 3am, "Mom I need a drink of Grant's sprite."
-Blake started stuttering Monday. He is an amazing talker, but I think it is very age appropriate. It just breaks my heart because he does not like it!
-I get tired of being told I am the meanest mom ever because I want Grant to take his medicine.
-Told him he could not have Mickey Chicken Nuggets because I was worried they were too hard, so he squirted his pink Anti-biotic on the carpet.
-I was dozing off feeding Lydia in my bed (after 3 nights of no sleep) and Blake dumped her brand new infant Tylenol down my night stand and on the carpet in between the bed and night stand.
-I was worried Grant was not drinking and may not be able to use the bathroom so I put Miralax in his chocolate milk . . . which of course he wouldn't drink. So, without me knowing Blake did!! Poor baby had a full diaper later!!
-Blake put my sunglasses on the back of his head, just like dad, and said, "I go to work." Then in a really sweet little voice, "Bye love you, have a good day." We always say love you before dad leaves!
-Blake said, "Mom can I have some Scooby Doo?" He was talking about Mountain Dew. We had a can we let Grant pick thinking we would buy anything he would drink!
-When Lydia was really upset after shots Trent accidentally dropped a little figure on her tummy. I asked what happened and he told me that is why she was crying. Then he said, "So how do we get her to stop?"
-Blake singing BINGO is the best, "Farmer had dog, NGO, Bingo." I video taped it because it is his voice and beat that are so funny!!
-Poor Grant cries and moans LOUDLY at night. It was so hard. Especially Wednesday when Lydia didn't sleep because of shots and had a fever. Grant fell asleep on the couch and woke up about 8:15pm hysterical. I could not get him to take his medicine. After an hour he said, "Mom I can't stay asleep it hurts too much." Then he told me, "I need help calming down." Trent was not helping . . . you have spent enough time with him mom, I need help with math . . . just pin him down and force it in his throat . . . he is so loud . . . it does not hurt that bad. Trent was hurting Grant's feelings so I told Trent was not aloud to talk. Got the medicine in Grant after an hour and a half and was so tense I could have exploded!! In the middle of this Blake held up Grant's pull up and said, "Front or back, front or back mom, front or back." Because every night Grant says, "Front or back mom" and holds it up!

Some of my emails to Josh:
"Lydia 10 pounds 11 oz. Dropped in the curve but ok. . . Duffy does not want me to have milk or peanut butter and see how it goes. He said she is in the almost worry category we will see next time and maybe medicate for Reflux. Lydia really hurting after shots poor baby."
"Grant wants to know if my parent's ever had any children of their own? Your mom is headed to DC for work. Trent's tooth is hanging on. Grant wants me to tell you he is taking his medicine. I guess Sarah still likes Trent. . . and a little girl named Avery made him a paper airplane and put love Avery. . . so Trent told them love is just another way to say from."

Lizzy's Sweater

I wanted Lydia to look cute to pick up Dad from the airport. I put her in Lizzy's old sweater that I love. The hair bow my neighbor Brinkley made and I bought for $3! It was a crazy drive to the airport! It started to snow . . . very wet and slippery. Two cars had slid into each other on the I-15 around 114th. Little further down the freeway a car had spun around and was facing the wrong way. Needless to say part of the drive we went about 24mph! We were so excited to see Josh!!!

Blake

Blake wants everything in his crib!! 2 monkeys, a bear, Pablo, blankets, 3 slips, an elephant, panda, giraffe, fish, green dog, another panda, polar bear and a pillow off my bed!!

Yesterday there was a cat on the deck. I yelled to the boys to come and see! I opened the deck door and said, "Blake go shoo the cat away!" He came inside a few minutes later and said, "Mom it is dead, the cat is dead." Then a second later he said, "Open the door mom and I will go shoot it!" I was laughing so hard, I explained shoo and shoot! He obviously doesn't understand shoot or dead but it was so funny!

Space Aliens

The boys have been dying for these Space Alien shirts since August!! You cannot tell by the picture . . . I missed Grant's smile by a second and Trent was mad I wanted a picture! Yesterday they put them on the minute they opened them!

Blake got Mickey . . Space Aliens does not come in his size! He loves Mickey though!!

Grant's tonsils

Grant was suppose to get his tonsils out Tuesday, November 9. Monday night we let him choose dinner . . he choose the Olive Garden. Tuesday morning Josh was eating left overs and Grant wanted some noodles. Josh forgot and let him eat a fettuccine noodle! At the hospital, once taken back, we told the nurse! AND . . we were sent home! (Got to have a really GREAT conversation with Doctor Heras first though!)
***
Thursday morning, same plan, Trent to Joslyn's house (he was thrilled to go), Blake to Jill's house (he was thrilled to go) and off to the Riverwoods Surgery Center! Trent had his first loose tooth this morning! It was helpful . . distracted him from wind and gave him some special attention!!
***
The Anesthesiologist came in and talked for a minute. He asked Grant to come with him. Grant wanted me to come. He said I could come as far as the door. Grant held my hand and we walked to the double doors. They opened and he took the Anesthesiologist hand and held mine for just a minute longer and let go. I yelled "I love you buddy and I will be with you when you wake up!" He was so adorable and brave!!
***
Grant did awesome! They brought him in on his bed and he slept for a while! Woke up and did not cry . . . looked at me and said, "Can I have some Chocolate milk?" No, so "Can I have some of your propel." I asked the nurse and he could! He continued to drink Propel and Sprite then had 6 Popsicles! Trent had to have a second IV bag because of his lack of drinking and Popsicles! Not Grant! I brought him in a blue Popsicle and said, "The nurse said this is the best one." Quiet for a minute, Grant takes a bite, "She is right!"
***
A little later, Grant says to Josh, "Can I have my shoes?" Josh "Where are you going?" Big smile from Grant, "Home!" (Not yet buddy!)
***
Grant wanted to hold Lydia . . . she is 4 months today!!!
